Getting up with the sun

Life is busy right now.

I’m always feeling like I’m running out of time. I’ve got a long list of to dos and chores that need done around the apartment and I still gotta put the time into my business, friends, and family.

I’ve always struggled with staying on track late in the evenings and because of that my work and my family suffer.

It wasn’t until I started putting things first in my day that I really built some consistency and freed up some time.

This one simple, yet oh so difficult, task that I set out to do would end up being the reason my business grew, my health increased, and my family’s joy grew.

Can you guess what is it?

That’s right! I got my butt out of bed a little earlier.

I was consistently going to bed at the same time as my wife and that’s been a routine that we have found beneficial in our marriage.

My wife feels more comfortable falling asleep when she knows I’m safe and doing the same thing right next to her.

I did not want to take that away from her and cause her any distress so that means I needed to set my alarm earlier and get a head start on the day.

My alarm goes off between 4am and 4:30am every day. I average about 6 1/2-7 hours of sleep and I know some of you are chuckling to yourself right now saying “Not a chance!”

I thought the same thing when I first started doing this, but now that I know how much extra I can accomplish and how much free time I have for my wife it has gotten easier.

So if you are someone who wants to start getting up earlier, here are 3 things you can start doing today to make that early morning alarm a little easier to get up to!!

  1. Set hard no electronics boundaries. I have mine set at an 1 and 1/2 before bed. This is usually when read a book or finish cleaning up the apartment so I can still be productive while staying off electronics!

  2. Avoid drinking water 2 hours before bed. Nighttime bathroom breaks can be one of the biggest disruptors to our deep sleep and that can throw off our sleep schedule making it even harder to get up in the morning!

  3. Utilize sleep supplementation to boost your sleep. I take Magnesium from 1st Phorm to help me relax and fall asleep faster and deeper which helps me to get up earlier to attack my day!

Getting up earlier has allowed me to consistently workout, connect with God, and prepare to be the best husband, business owner, and leader I can be. I would challenge you to reflect on what’s holding you back from growing and moving forward. If that’s your alarm clock take these pointers and put them into action ASAP!

I promise it’ll help.
