Choose Your Hard
Life is hard.
There really is no such thing as an easy life.
There might be periods of your life that are easier than others, but to end up with your entire life being easy?? GOODLUCK!
It is a reality that, as much I don’t want to, I have had to accept.
Accepting the reality that life is going to be hard has allowed me to really embrace it.
“Trev why would you want to embrace the hard?”
Embracing the hard is a motto that has reminded me that no matter what, hard is something I will have to endure.
“So what does it mean to embrace the hard?”
Embracing the hard means to do the hard thing that you know you should in order to make things easier down the road. It’s a concept otherwise known as delayed gratification.
Delaying gratification is "the act of resisting an impulse to take an immediately available reward in the hope of obtaining a more-valued reward in the future.”
So when I say to EMBRACE THE HARD, I am really telling myself to choose the hard thing now so that things get easier down the road.
It’s crazy to me that some people go their entire life without fighting and impulse. Don’t get me wrong, I struggle to fight impulses at times in my life too, but I know I’ve also fought impulses as well.
The periods of my life where I’ve fought the impulses and embraced the hard have led to some of the most momentous periods of my life. The times of my life where I’ve been in the best shape, had the best mentality, and have seen my business grow the most.
The other periods of my life where I’ve given into the impulses over and over have led to some of the most depressing times.
Being out of shape.
Seeing decline in my business.
Feeling lost ad hopeless in my pursuits of life.
Those are just some of the feelings I’ve experienced and I know you’ve experienced them too.
The next time you feel an impulse to do something that you know takes away from your future by making it easier now, remind yourself to…
EMBRACE. THE. HARD.
